Denny is one of the good old boys. A fun, eccentric character. And he's the very best there is at safely cutting down trees. When the pros are intimidated by a tree situation, they call in Denny. He's one of our best kept secrets that we just couldn't keep to ourselves.

Aren't machines the coolest? It's what every little boy dreams of. They build them so big they tower over you when you get close. They can be awesome. But bigger isn't always better. This little beauty is the newest member of our family. We purchased it this new year because the tracks pull in, enabling it to of fit through 36" wide openings. This allows us to access tight spaces in backyards and subdivisions.

It's a beautiful day in Buckley, WA. We're on a clearing job knocking down trees and grubbing the land. The owner is preparing to build a nice big shop on his property. If you have a piece of property you would like to build on, we can clear, level, grade, install a construction entrance, put up silt fencing, do the foundation dig, bring utilities to the site, put in driveways, roads, and drainage for the property. Call us to get started with your project today!

Have you ever seen property that turns into a swamp when it rains? Under most buildings, there is an underground system of drainage pipes. These can collapse, crack, get clogged with dirt, or even destroyed by tree roots.

Sweet memories. This is a picture of of the yard we created for our very first customer. When we first arrived on the scene, it was full of brush. It was overgrown and undeveloped. We took out trees and brush, and gave it a gentle slope. We installed the top soil for the grass, which has grown up beautifully.

This is a picture of a gutter drain. It's a very important, but under-appreciated part of every building's foundation. If a contractor tries to cut corners and use improper materials, these systems won't last. We are not those guys.

Stack stone retaining walls serve dual purposes. First, they are aesthetically pleasing hardscapes that can make your property more usable. Secondly, they provide drainage, which is extremely helpful in the drippy wet climate that we enjoy here in Washington state.

This driveway, located in South Hill Puyallup, WA was in dire need of replacement. But the customers didn't want to spend a lot of money on the project. We suggested using crushed asphalt to replace the driveway. Instead of spending upwards of ten thousand dollars, the customer was able to hire us to haul away the old concrete, regrade the driveway and install crushed asphalt in its place for a fraction of the cost.

We do have a few tricks up our sleeve here at FTS Excavation. This particular drainage job out in Grays Harbor, which is normally out of our service area, was one problem to solve after another. Good thing we love the rush we get from super-challenging jobs.

Another trick in our bag of innovative drainage solutions is drywells. Drywells are fairly inexpensive solutions to running downspouts into an underground storage system that release roof water run-off underground versus on the service. This helps cut down on flooding around foundations where there is only splash plates for roof water to drain out on to through down spouts.

There are two keys to building the perfect patio. First, know how to properly prepare for the pavers. Second, attention to detail. The preparation for the pad and especially the first row are extremely tedious because they are key to laying the perfect patio. We really care about all the lines being perfectly straight and that you can enjoy your patio for many years to come.

We frequently encounter problems with drainage systems that were installed incorrectly. FTS Excavation will go in and design a drainage system to route the water away from the house using filter fabric, clean crushed gravel and the proper pipe.

Our FTS Excavation team came in and assessed the problem. One of the three streams was cleverly turned into a beautiful water feature emptying into an existing pond at the end of the property by the owners. The other two streams we captured into catch basins, running the water through heavy duty underground drainage pipes and into the proper drainage ditch. We also installed a french drain below the catch basin to capture overflow of these springs during the rainy season.
